We are proud to announce that our program will include:

  
        Hands-On Technical Workshops in Genetics and Bioinformatics
  • A Hands on Approach to Exploring the Who, What, How and Where of Summer Internships in Plant Genomics Research -(Students and mentors are invited to learn about plant research programs and summer internships by participating in hands on examples and experiments such as isolating DNA, PCR, and Electrophoresis.)
  • Bioinformatics and Cyberinfrastructure for Research and Education - (Students and mentors are invited to learn about the field of bioinformatics and how it helps scientists analyze, compare and view their data. Tools, cyberinfrastructure and big data will be the focus during these hands on workshops.)
  
  
        Professional Development Sessions For Students and Faculty, Covering Topics Such as:
  • Summer Programs: Best Practices for Finding, Applying and Getting Accepted
  • Graduate School: Best Option for a Creative Future? (To PhD or Not to PhD? That is the question!)
  • Developing Effective Communication and Networking Skills
  • Career Options in Plant Biology, Genomics and Bioinformatics
  
  
        Poster Session And Other Networking Opportunities

Students and Mentors are encouraged to bring and present their research posters, whether or not it involves plant biology.

Please note that students are not required to have a poster to participate in this professional development activity.
