The SoyMap Project is pleased to announce the availability of summer internships for 2008.
The deadline for applying for the 2008 SoyMap Summer Research Program has been extended to May 5, 2008.
Apply now!
The SoyMap Summer Research Program (SSRP) is looking for motivated, goal oriented, minority undergraduate students to conduct research in the areas of plant genomics, molecular biology, bioinformatics and computer science. Students will assist researchers with the sequencing and mapping of the soybean genome during an eight week summer internship. Mentors are also encouraged to apply for our mentor program.
Because soybean is of great importance around the world, the genome information will be of great value leading to improvements in health and nutrition as well as improving and protecting crops from pathogens, drought and insects. This information may also lead to environmental improvements in soil and water and in the development of renewable energy sources such as biofuels.
